A Photoshoot in Paradise

July 1st, 2009

We have had the honor of participating in several magazine photo shoots lately! They havebeen so much fun to be a part of, and we have *loved* creating all of the different paper pieces for the various table scapes. We can’t give away too much information, since the magazines will be coming out in the fall…however, we wanted to give you a “sneak peek”! This “Hawaiian Paradise” tablescape was so much fun for us to design. We created an adorable tropical pattern for the bands on the placecards and menus, and then sent our artwork to the very talented Melody Brandon of Sweet and Saucy. She took our design and replicated it to be the bandon the mini cakes that she designed! This is one of our very favorite aspects of designing within the wedding industry. When we create something (monogram/pattern/hand drawn artwork, etc.) it can be used in so many different ways to really tie the entire event together. Watching Melodywith her mini cakes, and seeing the entire tablescape come to life was so exciting for us! Thanks to Melody for all of her amazing design and creativity! Watch for this tablescape coming out in the fall…more details to come!

Lisa+ Derren… a wedding worth reading about.

June 22nd, 2009

Lisa + Derren
May 2, 2009
Point Loma Nazarene University
San Diego, California

Lisa and Derren were the cutest couple! Lisa came to us several months before her wedding with the most adorable idea for her invitations:
she wanted a “family tree” theme. Both her parents and Derren’s parents had been married for 20+ years, and they wanted to honor that amazing commitment and heritage, while also celebrating the new union being formed between the two of them. We designed a literal “family tree” invitation - with custom silhouettes of the bride and groom, as well as the two sets of parents. The silhouettes were nestled in the branches of the tree. In keeping with the “silhouette” theme, we also designed an adorable envelope flap - a little girl and boy on a bicycle. This helped to tie in the outside/whimsical/picnic feel of their wedding. The fact that they actually got married underneath a large beautiful tree on the Point Loma Nazarene University campus made everything come together perfectly. Ashlyn and Heather of Carter +Cook Event Company did a great job of coordinating this adorable celebration. All photography is courtesy of Micah Dahlberg Photography.
We love you, Lisa + Derren!

Pigeons: the *new* lovebirds

June 15th, 2009

Lauren and Joel were married at the Darlington House this past Friday, June 12th. They had a very crisp yet elegant color scheme of navy and white…and their theme was “pigeons”. As we got in to the design, we knew it would be one
of our favorite (and most unique!) invitation sets to date. We learned a new fun fact: “that pigeons mate for life…”
so how appropriate (and adorable) to have pigeons as the theme of a wedding. The amazing Ashlyn Carter
and Heather Cook (of Carter and Cook Event Company) did a wonderful job of bringing all of the details together!

We designed a vintage inspired pattern to be carried through each piece of the invitation. We used cute symbols
for each card (”pigeons” - of course - for the main invitation and envelope, a cake for the rsvp card and a compass
for the directions card). The invitations were navy and pearl…with a tiny “pop” of red on each card.

This couple is one of the reasons we *love* being custom designers. Where else can you find an adorable (yet
elegant) wedding invitation that features pigeons? =)

VAL *our starfish queen*

June 8th, 2009

val was one of our most favorite clients to date. we worked with her for almost one full year, and did everything
“paper” for her wedding…from save the dates, to custom labels for her “welcome” market trays for out of town guests.
we never got to meet her groom, rob…but we sure loved getting to know his sweet bride!

the color palatte for val and rob was very fun, and we loved their whimsical style. with teal blue and pops of blossom
pink, we were able to use much creativity in the design. our favorite part (that was used on each paper piece) was the
hand - drawn starfish with their whimsical initials on either side. we also loved the cute “booklet” programs - teal books
with a pocket at the back - we found the *perfect* pink and teal tissues to tuck in to the pocket…and they couldn’t have
been a better match.

the wallaces were married on april 18…and we already miss seeing val on a regular basis. congratulations val + rob!

We loved working with brett and cristel calvin…who were married on may 2 at a private
residence in downtown san diego. they were such an elegant and adorable couple!

Their wedding reception was small and intimate; shades of creams and whites with lots
of beautiful candlelight. we designed a scripty custom monogram for them, and incorporated
that monogram on the personalized menus, custom signage and the wine bottle favor tags.
They also loved the vintage elegance of lace…so we used actual lace with hand sewn
sequin detail for the table numbers and “welcome” signs.

Here are a few photos from their lovely reception…and their adorable thank you card! we
loved this picture of them walking…it will be mounted to their thank you card - the front of
the card - with their custom monogram and “thank you” printed on to the photo.

Congratulations, brett & cristel!
